Sardinian singing is one of the most iconic forms of polyphonic music in the Mediterranean region. The vocal ensemble Cuncordu e Tenore from Orosei occupies a prominent place in the world of traditional Sardinian music thanks to the intensity of its performances and the uniqueness of its repertoire. As faithful guardians of a musical heritage passed down by their ancestors, their repertoire comprises two distinct vocal forms: songs celebrating the Passion of Christ, known as ‘a cuncordu’, and ancestral pastoral songs,... -
The vocal ensemble Cantat was formed in the autumn of 2006. Six singing enthusiasts were approached to perform at a concert in Sint-Lambrechts-Woluwe, organised by the Davidsfonds.
Under its former name, Turnhout’s ‘Vooicaal Ensembelken’, the small choir gave performances of religious and secular music for many occasions: church services, providing musical entertainment at receptions and anniversaries, charity concerts, etc.
Highlights included the concert at De Renesse Castle in Oostmalle in aid of Muco, the All Saints’ Day celebrations at St... -
Following several major commemorations in 1989, 1995, 2001 and 2012, we continue to remember each year this significant battle for Turnhout and for Belgium, at the beautiful site in the heart of Turnhout where it took place. We are pleased to involve a variety of cultural partners in this event, including our carillonneur, the Turnhout Patriots, the Municipal Music Academy, dance group Zonne, the Turnhout Giants, the Pizzicanto choir, the music ensemble De Turnhoutse Snaar, and, where appropriate, a guest speaker.

Last autumn, photographer Georges Pacheco explored the Pays de Montmédy, eager to discover the region and meet those who live, work and embody rural life there. From this closeness to others, he has produced images that often evoke universal themes, capturing both the harshness and the beauty of the rural world. He has woven these images together to create a poetic visual narrative exploring ‘life here’ and rural life. This event is presented as part of the 2026 Cultures & Heritage... -
